Street Children's Village, Rwanda

The next project Ben was asked to design and coordinate in Rwanda was a new village to house the many children living on the streets. The village comprises a number of dormitories for boys and girls along with separate ablution facilities. There is also a large communal block, providing teaching space for the children as well as offices and storage for the operation of the community. The buildings are constructed using traditional handmade bricks, tin roofs with a rudimentary concrete frame. The buildings are designed to function sustainably in the varied and often harsh climate.
