Starbucks, Reading

This new Starbucks at a busy retail park in Reading redefines the familiar coffee shop typology through a bold, contemporary architectural expression. Conceived as a standalone pavilion, the building is designed not simply as a convenient stop, but as a destination in its own right.
Full-height glazed walls dissolve the boundary between inside and out, creating a transparent and welcoming presence that activates the surrounding public realm. The exposed structural frame gives the building a confident, honest character, celebrating its construction while reinforcing a clean, modern aesthetic. Innovative lighting is integrated throughout, enhancing the architectural form by day and transforming the café into a warm, glowing landmark by night.
Visible from across the retail park, the architecture establishes a strong visual identity, elevating the everyday coffee experience. The result is a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional coffee shop — open, expressive and designed to linger in, not just pass through for a quick espresso!
