Brunel University, Uxbridge

The final phase of Brunel University’s masterplan delivers 1,400 student study bedrooms in 17 four- to five-storey spine blocks, grouped predominantly as 10-person flats. The layout is carefully ordered and funnels towards the end of the main university thoroughfare. The diverse landscaped spaces between the blocks are closely spaced at the focal end and more loosely spaced and open at the perimeter of the university campus. The building’s sustainable design is achieved through natural ventilation, high levels of insulation and centralised energy supply.
