Village house, Surrey.

The site for this new build house project is in open countryside in an “Area of Great Landscape Value” between the Surrey Hills AONB and South Downs National Park. Given the highly sensitive nature of the site and setting, an extremely well-considered design and strategic approach was required in order to secure a planning consent for this ambitious scheme.

 

Following extensive research and concept analysis, Ben Reed Architects produced this design for a new 5-bedroom house. The extensive use of black timber and glass along with the angular forms give a very contemporary feel, however there is clear reference to the traditional Surrey / Sussex barn which allows the project to sit comfortably in its setting.

 

Ben Reed Architects successfully secured planning consent for the scheme following which a full pack of working drawings was produced. The project is currently under construction with an anticipated completion in Summer 2026.
