A traditional Victorian detached house has been transformed and significantly extended with a unique, contemporary design, extensively using glass to maximise natural light to create a modern luxury home. The extension replaces dilapidated Victorian workshops tucked away at the back of the existing house and adjoined by several neighbouring gardens and property. The combination of complex pitched and flat roofs with clerestory windows allows an abundance of natural light into the living space throughout the day. This space is connected back to the existing house via a glazed link which also contains useful storage. The project was shortlisted and exhibited in the New London Architecture’s ‘Don’t move, improve’ design competition at their headquarters in store street in central London.
